BOE Appoints Furr to Vacancy

At the November 5 Liverpool Central School District Board of Education meeting, the board appointed R. Thomas Furr to its vacant board seat.
Mr. Furr is a 1988 graduate of Liverpool High School and 1992 graduate of Potsdam State University.
With two children in the district, Mr. Furr has volunteered for several district committees focusing on topics such as the selection of district administrators, transportation & busing reorganization, and capital improvements. He served as the Morgan Road Parent Teacher Organization President from 2012 to 2014, and was inducted into the LHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. He currently serves on the hall of fame’s selection committee.
In addition to his involvement with the district, Mr. Furr is a New York State certified swim official and has coached for Liverpool Youth Lacrosse, Liverpool Optimist Basketball and Liverpool Girls Softball.
On August 21, the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Board member Michael Leone after serving on the Board of Education for more than three years. Mr. Furr will serve Mr. Leone’s term on the BOE until the next board election. The seat will be subject to a general election in May 2019.
