COVID-19 Update for End of Day - March 16

Dear LCSD Parents and Guardians,

In accordance with Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon’s order from this morning, Liverpool Central School District began its extended school closure today at 4 p.m. Outlined below is some key information to support students and families during this time.

School Closure & Event Cancellation

  • School buildings will close at 4 p.m. on March 16, 2020. Tonight’s BASCOL program will continue through 6 p.m.
  • Effective March 16, all before/after school programs will cease until schools reopen.
  • Effective March 17, BASCOL’s all-day program will be held at MRE & LBE.
  • Schools will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, April 13. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 14.
  • All after-school and evening activities, field trips, fine arts, and athletic events are canceled immediately.
  • Tutoring for home-bound students will be arranged on a one-to-one basis.
  • Spring sports will not begin until at least April 14

Meals for Students Starting March 17

  • Pick-Up Locations: CHE, LBE, NPE, and LE (11 a.m. -1 p.m.)
  • Drop-Off Locations: Madison Village, Heritage Park, Willows, Brentwood, Eagle Point, Candlelight, Norstar, ABC Estates, Hampton Estates, Lakeview Town Homes, Burning Tree, Grenadier Village,  and Northwood Apartments (11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)
  • If you are in need of assistance for meals, please complete this form (Food Service Needs) or contact our Food Service Department (315)622-7172.

Continuity of Learning

  • District teaching staff continues to work on providing families with paper packets and Google Classroom assignments to ensure the continuity of learning.
  • K-6 students will receive packets for Math and English-Language Arts. These packets will be sent out digitally or can be picked up at the food distribution locations (Pick-Up or Drop-Off) or K-6 Buildings, anytime after Thursday, March 19.
  • 7-8 students will receive learning material through Google Classroom or paper packets depending on the teacher.
  • 9-12 students will receive learning materials through Google Classroom. If 9-12 students need printed materials, complete the following form: Paper Resource Needs
  • Please contact your child’s teacher regarding any questions about the paper packets or virtual Google Classroom learning materials sent out during the extended school closure.  

Access to Technology

The Technology Hotline is (315)459-6900 and will be available for students daily from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Students with Disabilities & Section 504s

  • All Committee on Special Education, Committee on Preschool Education and Section 504 meetings during the closure will be canceled.  The District will work diligently upon reopening to reschedule all meetings in a timely manner. We will send out new invitations and agendas to all stakeholders when meetings can be rescheduled.
    • All special education teachers, therapists TOVI, and TOHI should individualize and provide specially designed instruction to the extent possible according to the student’s IEP.  Staff may use online resources such as Google Classroom (learn more about Google Classroom by clicking this link) or a variety of other online resources or paper packets.
