COVID Can’t Stop the Music in Liverpool
Thursday, May 21, 2020 -
While COVID-19 has put a pause on much of daily life, it has certainly not stopped Liverpool Central School District music teachers and student musicians from making music together.
In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday, and paying tribute to those who currently serve or have served in the military, more than 230 students (grades 4 through 12) in the LCSD band program have teamed up to perform The Star Spangled Banner.
“In these times of need, we hope this will provide a beacon of light and hope for our friends, families, and communities,” said Liverpool High School band director Stephen Salem.
“Projects like this are only possible with the assistance of a great team of caring teachers who make it their top priority to serve others,” Salem added.
Using the computer programs Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro, and iMovie, Long Branch Elementary & Soule Road Elementary band director Melissa Cannan and her husband Scott Cannan (band director at Rush-Henrietta High School) put in countless hours to bring this performance to life.
“A huge thank you goes out to all the inspiring Liverpool music teachers and their fantastic students who participated in this project for all of you, our community of Liverpool, to enjoy,” Salem said.
