DFS Seeks Student Volunteers for Phone-a-Thon
Tuesday, February 24, 2015 -
The Liverpool Chapter of Dollars for Scholars will hold its annual DFS Phone-a-Thon on Sunday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Liverpool High School (snow date is Sunday, March 8).
That evening, student volunteers will make phone calls to district residents, family members and friends seeking donations for the organization, which raises scholarship money for LHS graduating seniors. Other student volunteers will stuff envelopes with letters and pledge forms to be mailed to anyone who cannot be reached that evening.
Liverpool DFS is seeking LHS students (grades 9-12) to volunteer for this worthwhile event. Volunteers can earn service hours for classes, clubs and religious programs and will be eligible for a $500 scholarship at the end of their senior year. Students must arrive by 5 p.m. for a brief orientation. Liverpool DFS will provide volunteers with dinner, prizes and T-shirts. Any student interested in volunteering should see Mr. Pascale in LHS Room 317, Mrs. Heighton in the LHS Student Records Office, or their guidance counselor.
Liverpool Dollars for Scholars awarded more than 180 scholarships, totaling nearly $85,000, to members of the LHS Class of 2014. Anyone interested in making a donation to Liverpool DFS can download a pledge form on the Liverpool Central School District Web site by clicking here.
Without tremendous school and community support, this program to honor LHS graduates would not be possible. The Liverpool DFS Board of Directors thanks the Liverpool community for its generous support.
