Edge FCU to Hold Food Drive for New LHS Food Pantry

Each year, the Liverpool High School School-Wide Student Council organizes a “Penny War” fund-raiser to benefit a local non-profit organization, with Edge Federal Credit Union matching the school’s donation (up to $250).
This year, proceeds from the Penny War will benefit a new initiative at LHS – a food pantry.
In addition to its matching donation, Edge is holding a food and toiletry drive for the pantry. Those visiting the Edge FCU office (located at 7545 Morgan Road) can drop off items from the pantry’s wish list:
Protein Foods
- Tuna (canned in water)
- Chicken (canned in water)
- Canned beef stew
- Bean soups
- Other canned soups with meats
- Beans (dried or canned)
- Baked beans
- Canned chili
- Peanut butter
- Pork and beans (canned)
Grains
- Rice and rice side dishes
- Canned pastas (spaghettios, etc.)
- Noodles
- Pasta side dishes (Knoor’s, etc.)
- Macaroni and cheese (ones that are water only are even better)
- Boxed potato dishes
- Cold cereal
- Oatmeal
- Pancake mix (add water only)
- Crackers
- Granola bars
Fruits
- Canned fruit
- Fruit cups (similar to canned fruit)
- Raisins
- Applesauce
- Dried fruits
- Fruit leather (fruit roll-ups)
- 100% juices
Vegetables
- Canned vegetables
- Vegetable soup
- Spaghetti Sauces
Dairy
- Powder/dry milk
- Evaporated milk
- Breakfast drinks (shelf-stable)
Condiments
- Syrup
- Jelly and jam
Toiletries
- Shampoo
- Soap
- Toothpaste
- Feminine hygiene
Because the food pantry consists of shelving units only, with no access to a refrigerator, organizers ask food donations be non-perishable and shelf-stable items only.
The pantry will not be able to accept used food or toiletry items that are opened and/or partially used.
