LBE Students Hit with mARTch Madness
Tuesday, April 9, 2019 -
The Virginia Cavaliers aren’t the only newly-crowned champion.
In honor of Youth Arts Month, Long Branch Elementary recently selected Claude Monet’s The Waterlily Pond as the winner of its first-ever mARTch Madness tournament.
LBE art teacher Jennifer Matott selected 16 famous pieces of art (encompassing a variety of mediums) for the school’s tournament. She then displayed photos of the art, along with some information about each piece, in a bracket-style format outside of her classroom. Students and staff were asked to vote for their favorites, and winning pieces of art moved on to the next round until a champion was crowned.
Youth Arts Month, established by The Art & Creative Materials Institute in 1961, encourages support for quality school art programs.
