LCSD Admins, Counselors Attend PREPaRe Training Workshop
Thursday, September 21, 2017 -
Prior to the start of the new school year, Liverpool Central School District administrators, psychologists, school counselors and guidance counselors attended a two-day professional development workshop regarding school safety and crisis management at Willow Field Elementary.
Dr. Amanda Nickerson, professor and director of the Jean M. Alberti Center for the Prevention of Bullying Abuse and School Violence in the University at Buffalo’s Department of Counseling, School, and Educational Psychology, presented an overview of the PREPaRE training curriculum to district employees.
Developed by the National Association of School Psychologists, the curriculum emphasizes the involvement of school mental health professionals in the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery from any school crisis. It also assists districts and schools with developing, exercising, and evaluating safety and crisis plans.
The workshops were made possible through Utica National and Haylor, Freyer & Coon, Inc.
