LCSD BOE Appoints New Assistant Superintendent

At its May 22 meeting, the Liverpool Central School District Board of Education appointed Dr. Sumita S. Kaufhold as the district’s new assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment.
“We are pleased to announce that the selection committee has successfully concluded its rigorous search for the new assistant superintendent and it is with great optimism that the Board of Education accepted the recommendation of Dr. Kaufhold,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark F. Potter. “Dr. Kaufhold has more than 36 years of experience in education in which she has acquired deep understanding of working with urban, suburban and rural school learning environments.”
In her previous school management leadership roles in the New York City Department of Education, she has effectively held the positions of a network leader, administrative assistant superintendent, regional instructional specialist and director of literacy and ELLs. She also has authored several publications in the field of education. Her academic credentials include a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Organizational Management from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Queens College, City University of New York.
“The qualifications Dr. Kaufhold brings to this position are years of classroom teaching experience as well as administrative experience in curriculum, instruction and assessment in which she positively addressed the achievement gap with English Language Learners, Special Education and at-risk students in diverse school settings from grades Pre-K to 12,” Potter noted. “She also is knowledgeable about the current research in curriculum, instruction and assessment practices as well as exciting innovations in these areas.”
Dr. Kaufhold will join the district in September.
