LCSD Students Win at National History Day Regional

Students from Liverpool High School and the LHS Annexmastershieldgood were honored during the 2016 National History Day Central New York Regional competition on March 12 at Onondaga Community College.

“Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History” was the theme for this year’s competition, and students created projects in five categories - exhibit, Web site, documentary, papers and performance. Receiving honors were:

Senior Individual Exhibit

  • Second Place: LHS senior Maria Lore – Ellis Island: The Purgatory of the Modern World

Senior Group Exhibit

  • Second Place: LHS Annex freshmen Julianna Battaglia and Kyrstin Edwards – The Black Death
  • Third Place: LHS Annex freshmen Kaitlynn Luong, Mari DeTota, Alisa Guiffrida and Julianna Sgroi – Encomienda System; The Birth of Racism

Senior Group Documentary

  • Second Place: LHS Annex freshmen Sydney Caviness, Jillian Chilbert and Alicia Nash – The Silk Road
  • Third Place: LHS Annex freshmen Parbath Gautam and Brian Quigg - Vikings

Senior Individual Documentary

  • Third Place: LHS Annex freshman Zichao Lin – Finding the Silk Road

Senior Individual Web site

  • Second Place: LHS Annex freshman Gwenyth Bennett – The Black Death
  • Third Place: LHS Annex freshman Zoyie Baldwin – Impacts of the Discovery of DNA 

Senior Group Web site

  • Second Place: LHS Annex freshmen Anna Lynch, Afan Mustafic and Jingwen Ou - Beethoven
  • Third Place: LHS Annex freshmen Madison Michalski and Stephanie Taskovski – The Silk Road

First and second place winners are now qualified to compete during the New York State National History Day Competition in Cooperstown on April 18.
