LHS Artists Selected to Everson Teen Art Council
Tuesday, January 30, 2018 -
Liverpool High School seniors Claire Goetzke and Lea Porcaro have been selected as members of the Everson Museum’s new Teen Art Council.
The Teen Art Council, made up of 20 local high school students, provides teens with a hands-on approach to the museum world. The group meets weekly with Curator of Education Kimberly Griffiths and Education Assistant Caitlin Albright to learn about the museum’s numerous collections, the different roles played by the museum’s staff, and the relationship between the museum and practicing artists. The group also has been given the opportunity to curate its own shows using some of the museum’s important collections.
Their first exhibition, Ripple Effect: Altering the Face of Nature, is now open to the public. The exhibit explores the changing relationship between humans and nature sparked by industrialization. An opening reception will be held Friday, February 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the museum, located at 401 Harrison Street in Syracuse.
