Thursday, January 18, 2018 -
The Liverpool High School Counseling Department will present an overview of the college planning process to parents and students from the Class of 2019 on Thursday, January 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The evening will begin with an overview of the college planning process from 6 to 6:30 p.m. in the LHS Auditorium. Topics will include college applications, senior year timeline, and important resources.
Parents and students will then stay in the auditorium for a financial aid workshop from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Mark Humbert, director of financial aid at SUNY Oswego, will provide students and parents with helpful information on how, when and where to apply for financial aid. Humbert also will discuss how to determine what is an “affordable” college given your particular situation.
The final session of the evening will be a breakout session from 7:20 to 8 p.m. Parents and students will choose one of the following:
- Two-Year Colleges: Onondaga Community College Admission Counselor Chuck Wilbur will talk about the benefits of attending a two-year college. Learn what these institutions can offer students. This session will take place in Room 926.
- Four-Year College Options: In the last few years approximately half of each LHS senior class has chosen to begin college at a four-year institution. Join Le Moyne College Assistant Director of Admissions Grant Thatcher for a presentation on the process of finding and selecting a school that is the right fit. The discussion will include the benefits of the many SUNY and private school choices available. This session will take place in Room 902.
