LHS Senior Named National Merit Finalist

Liverpool High School Executive Principal Douglas LawrenceLHS senior Andrew Johnson is a National Merit Finalist for 2018. recently announced that LHS senior Andrew Johnson has been named a finalist in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Johnson is one of 15,000 students from across the United States who advanced to Finalist standing. Winners of Merit Scholarships will be chosen from this group based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.

Johnson was named a semifinalist earlier this school year after being one of the highest scoring entrants on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Approximately 1.5 million students from more than 22,000 high schools in the United States took the test, according to the National Merit Scholarship Program Web site.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a privately financed academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the PSATs and by meeting published entry/participation requirements.
