Thursday, October 6, 2016 -
Liverpool High School Executive Principal Douglas Lawrence recently announced that senior Laurel White has been named a semifinalist in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
White was among the highest scoring entrants after taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and is one of 16,000 students honored as a semifinalist. Approximately 1.5 million students from more than 22,000 high schools in the United States took the test, according to the National Merit Scholarship Program Web site.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is a privately financed academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the PSATs and by meeting published entry/participation requirements.
