LHS Seniors Win Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Nineteen Liverpool High School seniors recently received regional honors as part of the 2016 lhsscholasticwritingcontest16Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Students taking Writing Workshop 3 with LHS English teacher Kelly Frantz were given the opportunity to submit either an individual piece or a writing portfolio (consisting of four pieces) for consideration. Receiving honors were:

  • Jaylen Barron: Honorable Mention (Science Fiction/Fantasy)
  • Alyssa Barry: Silver Key (Flash Fiction)
  • Jordan Caviness: Silver Key (Poetry)
  • Allison Deschamps: Honorable Mention (Flash Fiction)
  • Sean Flickinger: Silver Key (Poetry)
  • Julia Flohr: Honorable Mention (Dramatic Script)
  • Jason Garuccio: Honorable Mention (Science Fiction/Fantasy)
  • Jake Ladouceur: Honorable Mention (Science Fiction/Fantasy)
  • Taylor LeBlanc: Honorable Mention (Flash Fiction)
  • Jacob Lohr: Honorable Mention (Science Fiction/Fantasy)
  • Isaiah Louis-Jean: Honorable Mention (Flash Fiction)
  • Rachel Meyer: Silver Key (Writing Portfolio), Gold Key (Flash Fiction), Gold Key (Dramatic Script), Gold Key (Flash Fiction) and Honorable Mention (Poetry)
  • Julia Mumpton: Silver Key (Writing Portfolio) and Honorable Mention (Science/Fantasy Fiction)
  • Mackenzie Rice: Honorable Mention (Dramatic Script)
  • Mackenzie Ronan: Honorable Mention (Writing Portfolio)
  • Julia Sardella: Gold Key (Writing Portfolio)
  • Andrew Stonebarger: Honorable Mention (Writing Portfolio)
  • Shay Uings: Silver Key (Writing Portfolio) and Gold Key (Dramatic Script)
  • Cassandra Vacco: Gold Key (Humor)


The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, a non-profit organization whose mission is to recognize students with exceptional artistic and literary talent. Nearly 320,000 original works of art or writing were submitted for this year’s competition.
