LHS Students Named Finalists in Photography Contest
Friday, November 6, 2015 -
Liverpool High School junior Danielle Lonczak and senior Bailey McGowan recently were named finalists in Bousequet Holstein’s 7th Annual Photography Contest.
The theme for the 2015 contest was Beauty, Charm and Joy and was inspired by Three Graces, the exhibition currently on display at the Everson Museum of Art. The exhibition features the work of Polly Apfelbaum, Tony Feher and Carrie Moyer.
Both LHS students said they researched the three artists before selecting their photographs for the competition. Lonczak’s photo, called Swinging Smile, features bubbles being blown around a young girl on a backyard swing. McGowan’s photo, called Personification, features waves crashing at sunset.
Lonczak and McGowan, both students in LHS art teacher Diane Sipfle’s photography classes, were honored during a special reception at the Everson Museum on October 28.
The annual contest is open to any Onondaga County high school student in grades nine through 12. In all, 291 images were submitted for this year’s contest.
