Liverpool, North Syracuse Present Checks to Paige’s Butterfly Run Inc.
Thursday, October 31, 2019 -
On Wednesday afternoon, the Liverpool and North Syracuse Central School Districts came together to present donations to a very worthy cause.
Cicero-North Syracuse High School Principal William LaClair and Liverpool High School Executive Principal Douglas Lawrence presented ceremonial checks worth $28,000 to Paige’s Butterfly Run, Inc. Founder Chris Arnold and Executive Director Mary Kate Intaglietta. The donations were part of each school’s participation in Paige’s Pajamarama.
Earlier this year, CNS challenged LHS to see which school could raise the most money to support Paige’s Butterfly Run, Inc. in their efforts to help kids fighting cancer at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The challenge brought excitement to both districts, and the event soon expanded to additional schools and departments.
Fittingly Liverpool and North Syracuse were able to split bragging rights during this year’s challenge with LHS raising more money than CNS, and NSCSD raising more money than LCSD. During Wednesday’s presentation, both principals were presented with plaques for display in their respective schools for the next year. There is enough space on each plaque to recognize future challenge winners for years to come. Both principals agreed that the schools are looking forward to next year’s challenge!
In the end, the kids fighting pediatric cancer at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital were the real winners. The money raised will help support pediatric cancer research and patient programs at the hospital.
