North Syracuse CSD to Host Suicide Prevention Workshop
Friday, January 17, 2020 -
The North Syracuse Central School District is holding "More Than Sad: Suicide Prevention for Parents" workshop/resource night on Wednesday, January 22 at North Syracuse Junior High School. The presentation will take place in the school's auditorium at 6 p.m.
NSCSD Superintendent of Schools Dan Bowles encourages parents and community members to attend saying, “Our district has been terribly shaken by the deaths of two students this school year. We take our mission to contribute to our students’ social/emotional development very seriously, and we and encourage our families to come to this presentation and join us as partners in our students' well-being.”
The More Than Sad family of programs has taught more than a million students, parents and educators how to be smart about mental health.
Parents will learn how to recognize signs of depression and other mental health problems, initiate a conversation with their child, and get him or her help.
There will be a resource area available for families looking for additional assistance. Liberty Resources and Contact, Inc. will be staffing resource tables throughout the evening.
