USDA Free Meal Program Ending - What Does This Mean?

Thanks to federal child nutrition waivers, all Liverpool Central School District students, regardless of income, have had access to free meals during the pandemic. Unfortunately, the federal waivers expired on June 30, and Congress and the United States Department of Agriculture have opted to not continue child nutrition waivers.

This means that the Liverpool CSD Food Service Department will no longer be able to provide free lunch for all students for the 2022-2023 school year (breakfast will continue to be free for all students).

For the upcoming school year:

  • Families must fill out free and reduced meal price applications for the 2022-2023 school year and meet income qualifications in order to receive free meals.
  • Families who do not qualify for free and reduced price meals for students will need to resume paying for school lunches.

Liverpool CSD families can now submit Free and Reduced Meal Applications online through MySchoolApps. With simple step-by-step instructions, applications are easy to complete and are automatically sent to the school office the same day. The online site is secure and your applications are confidential.

If you feel that your family may be eligible, complete the application online by visiting the MySchoolApps Web site and selecting the blue “Get Started” button. Please complete ONE application PER FAMILY.

If you are unable to fill out the application online, a copy will be mailed to families in early September. As a reminder, Free & Reduced Applications approved during the 2021-2022 school year expire on September 30, 2022. Parents and guardians must submit new applications at the start of the 2022-2023 school year to continue eligibility after September 30, 2022.
