Liverpool CSD Completes Lead Testing, Post Results

Dear Liverpool CSD Families and Staff,

New York State law requires school districts to complete lead testing of all water outlets used for drinking or cooking every three years, unless the Commissioner of Health mandates earlier testing. All samples are analyzed by a state-approved laboratory. In 2021, the state lowered the action level for lead in drinking water from 15 parts per billion (ppb) to 5 ppb for all testing conducted in the 2022–23 school year and beyond.

This November, the Liverpool Central School District received its 2025 lead-in-drinking-water testing results for all potentially potable water sources across our instructional buildings. Any outlets that tested above the threshold were immediately removed from service or clearly labeled as non-potable. Our Operations and Maintenance Department is actively addressing these fixtures, and they will remain out of service until remediation is complete and follow-up testing confirms they meet state requirements.
