Health Benefits

Excellus Blue Cross & Blue Shield - Liverpool offers employees and retirees a comprehensive medical and prescription drug plan through Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. Open enrollment is December with the effective coverage date of January 1. The health plan consists of:

• Blue Cross covers Hospitalization
• Blue Shield covers Medical/Surgical Benefit
• Major Medical covers Enhanced Medical Benefits

Please notify Tracy Sheridan of any changes listed below by calling 315-622-7978 or e-mailing her at tsheridan@liverpool.k12.ny.us:

Change of coverage (for example individual to family or vice versa)

• Name or address changes
• Add a new spouse within 30 days of the date of marriage (a copy of the marriage license is required)
• Add a new baby within 30 days of the baby's birth (a copy of the birth certificate is required)

As part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), new Transparency in Coverage rules have been established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), including a multi-year initiative that requires health plans to share contracted prices for all health care items and services.  

To comply with the Transparency in Coverage rule, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has provided a link to their Transparency Coverage Web site where the following information will be available: in-network provider contracted rates for items and services and out-of-network allowed amounts and billed charges for items and services.
