Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity & Accountability Committee
“Diversity is who we are! Equity and Inclusion is where we are going!
This is not an Initiative. This is a Journey… We are never done… This is an evolution that will continue!”
Dr. Mark F. Potter, Former Superintendent of Schools
The LCSD Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee is devoted to creating a highly inclusive school community where all students, staff and families are provided equitable opportunities and multiple expressions of diversity are seen as assets for teaching and learning (e.g., race, gender, social class, sexual orientation, ability, religion, language, nationality).
As we continue on this journey together, we ask you to consider the following:
- What are your core values?
- What biases do you hold?
- How can your values and/or biases impact your work with students, families and colleagues?
Diversity is who we are...
Your Diversity is Our Diversity… Your Story is a part of Our Story.
As we continue on this Journey together, remember Diversity makes us #WarriorStrong!!!
The Committee is determined to use data to drive action steps and measurable goals to increase inclusivity in a variety of areas (Policy, Discipline, Curriculum and Instruction, Social Emotional Learning, Course Selection/Pathways and Hiring/Mentoring, Co-Curricular/Athletics and Climate and Culture)
The Committee will utilize sub-committee work to drive an equity audit and examination of data by subgroups
The Committee recognizes that change and improvement cycles are on-going embedded work that require examining data by sub-groups annually whereas, adjusting goals and actions steps will be essential. This is an ongoing journey and not a short-term checklist or initiative.
The Committee is focused on providing professional development around all areas of inclusivity for the entire LCSD Community and partnering with community organizations.
